ISAF World Match Race Rankings - 30 March 2011

In the Open Match Race Rankings there has been plenty of movement in the top 25 following a busy few weeks of match racing. The sailors competing in the 2011 Congressional Cup have seen the most movement but Ben Ainslie (GBR) retains a strong lead. The Women’s Match Racing Rankings have seen little change since the start of February with Claire Leroy (FRA) maintaining her lead for the second month in a row over Nicky Souter (AUS).

Women’s Rankings

Claire Leroy (FRA) narrowly leads Nicky Souter (AUS) by 11 points in the Women’s Match Racing Rankings.

Both are set to compete at the Trofeo SAR Princess Sofia MAPFRE regatta in Palma, Spain and Semaine Olympique Francaise in Hyeres, France, the third and fourth of seven regattas on the ISAF Sailing World Cup series.

Whoever comes out on top in both regattas will no doubt be leading the next edition of the Women’s Match Racing Rankings on 18 May 2011.

Just 65 points separate Lucy Macgregor (GBR) at #3, Anna Tunnicliffe (USA) at #4 and Renee Groeneveld (NED) at #5.

Macgregor is 290 points behind Souter and trails Leroy by a further 301. Macgregor, Tunnicliffe or Groeneveld will need to put in a winning performance in Palma and Hyeres if they are to knock the two leaders off the top of the rankings.

In the top 50, Amanda Scrivenor (AUS) has climbed the most places as she moves from #49 to #39 after placing third at the Grade 3 Harken International Women’s Match Racing Regatta.
