WIMRA Match Racing Clinic in New York a Success!
Second in the Series of Match Racing Clinics

The second in the series of WIMRA Match Racing Clinics was held at Knickerbocker YC in Port Washington, New York, USA. Using a fleet of Colgate 26s donated by the Offshore Sailing School, the three day clinic turned 14 women and 4 men from sailors into keen match racers.

The clinic was conducted by Liz Baylis, WIMRA Executive Director, and Dave Perry, US National Match Racing Champion.

"They’re not fleet racing anymore," exclaimed Dave Perry after watching the racers go at it on the third day of the clinic. "It is exciting to see how these sailors have applied the lessons of match racing. We can’t thank the host Knickerbocker YC enough for their organization and hospitality. Also, the Colgate 26s are superb. They were used in the previous week’s Knickerbocker Cup regatta, and they were great for the clinic as well."

One enthusiastic participant said “The team of instructors was exceptional. They took a very complex topic and made it understandable I’ve attended many clinics and overall this ranks way over the top!” Another said “It was a great mix of class room sessions and on the water drills. I can’t wait to do some more match racing!”
