ISA Women’s Match Race Championship - Preview
Irish Sailing Association Women’s Match Racing 2010

Kinsale Yacht Club is host this weekend to the ISA Women’s Match Race Championship.

This will be the first time this event is being held. Up to ten teams of Ladies will be racing each other for the ‘Kinsale Regatta Cup’. This silver cup was first presented by Mrs E.M Barry in 1946. In 1989 it was re-presented by Kinsale YC for the Irish Dragon Match Racing Championships in Kinsale. It was won consecutively by Alan Crosbie in 1989 and ’90. The cup has not been used in competition since 1990 and was recently re-presented by Mr Crosbie for the Women’s Match Racing. Following restoration, carried out by the ISA, the cup will be on display in Kinsale YC for the first time in twenty years.

Racing will take place in Kinsale’s Outer Harbour and anyone in the area of Charles Fort or on the Scilly Walk will get a clear view of the teams in action from about 11.00 on both Saturday and Sunday morning and going on into the afternoon.
