2008 Australian Women’s Match Racing Championship - Day One
The 2008 Australian Women’s Match Racing Championship is being held at Fremantle Sailing Club from Saturday 30 August to Tuesday 2 September. (Click here to view report on freodoctor.com.au)

Competitors from around Australia have travelled to WA to compete in this event. This Championship is a pathway for Olympic Selection for the 2012 Games, where for the first time Women’s Match Racing will be an event.

Kate Aulich (Sandringham Y.C.) Current ISAF World Ranking 138
Kirstin Norris (Canberra Y.C.) Current ISAF World Ranking 156
Sandy Anderson (Royal Freshwater Bay Y.C.)

Yesterday was registration and practice sessions. All competitors were able to take the J24s out and put them through their paces on the local waters off Fremantle.

Today sees the start of the Round Robins and spectators are more than welcome.

Although a little overcast the forecast is for 5-10 knots this morning. All competitors are currently on the water preparing for the first flight of the day.

The Race Officer is hoping to complete all 7 flights scheduled for today and make a start on the next series of Round Robins.
